today is a sad day because the indian supreme court has backtracked to a law in India that bans homosexuality. in 2009, a lower court decided a law inherited from the british was unconstitutional. the supreme court has today said that law was improperly struck down. it argued that only the parliament can change such a law, and lgbt activists are confident the parliament would not do so. so, gay indians are back to square one.
if you don't know, india is home to about 175 million muslims or 17 million lgbt muslims.
